DIGIT Lab's monthly newsletter provides regular updates of DIGIT Lab wide activities, upcoming events and successes of our researchers. The DIGIT Lab is an EPSRC Next Stage Digital Economy Research Centre delivering a 5-year research programme backed by £12.4M in funding.

In this month's festive edition of the DIGIT Lab Newsletter we will reflect on the team's progress and activities over the past year, and provide an activity newsfeed of on demand recordings and details of DIGIT Lab's 2021 engagements.

DIGIT Lab's 2021

In this month's edition of the DIGIT Lab newsletter, with the festive season upon us, we reflect on the progress of the DIGIT Lab team over the past year and have selected our top five engagements with the greatest impact:Top 5:

1.The DIGIT Lab virtual Launch was an important milestone for the DIGIT Lab team, and provided an opportunity to: review initial progress, describe key focus areas, and reach out to the broad research community. Our team ended by describing several different ways that researchers and practitioners can join the DIGIT Lab team. Find out more

2. The Digital Jersey workshop generated a great deal of discussion and debate that will now be used to refine the strategies being developed. The DIGIT Lab Director, Alan Brown, Deputy Director, Saeema Ahmed-Kristensen, and Leroy White represented DIGIT Lab at the event.

By providing the backing and support of the DIGIT Lab team we are ensuring that these workshops deliver more meaningful insights that drive real impact in Jersey’s digital transformation journey over the next 5 years”.

3. The report on the 'Challenges in implementing digital change', (published by the House of Commons' Public Accounts Committee) to which DIGIT Lab team member Mark Thompson (alongside Jerry Fishenden & Will Venters) have contributed evidence cited in the report. Find out more

4. The Digital Economy Dispatches Book, by DIGIT Lab Director Alan Brown. The published book is titled “Digital Economy Dispatches: Critical reflections on how to succeed with digital transformation in turbulent times” and is inspired by the wide variety of interactions with the centre’s team over the past year. This collection of articles is now available for free download. Find out more

5. The interview of the Amazon UK and Ireland Business CEO. On the 30th of November, DIGIT Lab team member, Roger Maull interviewed Amazon UK and Ireland Business CEO, Molly Dobson, on digital technology and impact on procurement. They discussed how companies are using technology to remove the mundane and repetitive, and therefore enabling the transformation opportunities of digitalization.

Amazon Business will be developing the interview it into a 10-minute video, along with a 30 second teaser video and blog. It will be going up on LinkedIn and on the Amazon Business blog. They will go live in January. ☃
